Tire Question

I need to buy new tires for the Tahoe soon. I like the BFG Long Trails and am planning on LT265/75/16. I was wondering what experience anyone had with running an LT tire on a Tahoe. I am towing a car with it and felt the heavier tire would work better. I have P245/75/16 on it now, and the ride is nice. What will the LT tire do to ride quality? Mike

I will more than likely ride a little stiffer with an LT tire.  They are generally a "tougher" tire.  You may not notice a huge difference though.  I would go with the LT's, especially if your going to tow.

Always thought it funny they put passener car tires on trucks. ??? I guess so many people want their trucks to ride and handle like cars....  The LT will ride a bit stiffer than the P tires.  I don't think that you will notice unless you are on some really rough pavement.  If you are towing a lot, really recommend the LT rated tires.  My $.02.

I agree, put the LT tires on since you tow.  The rear tires get alot of abuse under towing conditions, and it would be reassuring to know that you have a little more tire under you.

If you're towing, get the LT.  Depending on brand and model, you might not notice any real difference in ride, especially if you're replacing the Wilderness Firestones that are on some newer Tahoes.  Oops, I see you have a '95, so I don't know what OEM tires you have/had on it!

I replaced the F-stones w/ LTs and my ride improved (silverado), and the handling was better (stiffer sidewalls I'm guessing).
