Oil change

I was wondering if it is any better to change the oil in the driveway with the nose of the truck higher than the rear. I just figured it would drain a bit more than on level ground. I'm gonna flush the engine anyway but I figured I'd ask.

I always jack the front of the truck up when I change my oil. Yes I do think it helps remove more old oil.

what do you mean flush? Those flush additives do more harm than good IMO.

I agree, flushing serves no purpose . drain old oil and add quality oil of your choice. You have done a good job. remember, the old oil is still good, oil will last much longer than typical oil change interval. Leaving contaminating, non lubricating, flushing additive is bad.

i use ramps when i change my oil, after a drain that way 6 full qts makes the level just right. A buddy of mine doesn't use ramps on his '04 tahoe and he can only get just over 5qts after a drain w/o it being overfull.

Right after I posted this one, I researched a bit on oil flushes and found out the reason they're frowned upon is because they might loosen sludge but may cause that sludge to clog other critical areas. Even the $130 dealership flush is a joke. The new detergents in oil actually do the same thing on a daily basis. So I took the flush back and bought some Seafoam instead for the top end. We'll see how that goes tomorrow. By the way, I only got 5 1/3 quarts of old oil out today on a decent incline. Next time maybe I'll ramp the front end and see if I can get more out. Anyway guys, ya'll were right on the money as usual.
