I need any help I can get. I was doing a tune-up on a 99 Tahoe with 5.7l and the Dist was loose. Well to make a long story short, I hit the cap and messed up the timing. I need to get it reset, is there any way to do this without hooking up a Scan Tool???????

I can't imagine getting the timing dead on without the tool...............you should be able to get it close, at least drivable, to get it to a shop that can set it for you.

There has always been a lot of controversy with adjusting the timing by the cap on these trucks. I have some personal experience, it shouldnt be hard at all to get it close, atleast within a tooth or two, and you cant notice a difference when it is off by only one tooth, you will just get an SES light. I would just get it lined up as straight as possible, and move the dist one tooth at a time until you get it straightened out!
