Westers / Wait4me vs. Predator / Superchips

I have tried the Superchips programmer. While I felt an improvement, I couldnt get the shift firmness soft enough, and I couldnt adjust my idle which became a little low after installing flowmasters.

So then I switched to the Predator. This unit enabled me to adjust the idle which was great! I was able to get rid of that annoying low idle vibration in the cab. I also felt an improvement in power with the Predator, but again, I'm having trouble with the shift firmness. I mean on normal driving conditions, it "clanks" into gear.

I'd like to know if any of you have had similar problems.

I'd also like to hear from those who have the Westers or Wait4me tunes. Do they pose the same problems? How do I know that it will help my idle problem?

Thanks.

ps. I will post another thread in the "General Gas" forum about my exhaust. I'm not really satified with the Flowmaster.

The Westers tunes are VERY popular. The programming can be set up the way you want it for your vehicle. You have options for improved fuel economy, better performance, gear ratio changes, dual tunes for octane, shift firmness, shift points, torque management reduction plus much more. Their 3D mapping is a popular option. This is a proprietary tweak to the tune that they can perform to increase gas mileage. If you're concerned about gas mileage, you will want to select this. Otherwise, leave it blank for maximum power/torque gains. Most customers will experience modest mileage gains of 1-2 mpg around town, and 2-3MPG on the highway with the higher octane tunes without selecting this option.

More info is listed in the Truck Ignition section of our website.

There is a TSB out on the "clank" on shifts, especially the 2-3 shift. It is caused by the 2nd gear band not releasing quick enough before the 3rd gear apply's. If your still under warranty, check with your dealer. I've seen the update help about 50% of the time. Wester's also can apply the shift update and or tune most of the noise out when doing the tune.

Thanks for the info guys. I should be taking it to the dealer shortly. The clank is just one of the items on the list. Lets see.......

Clank of gears

Intermidiate steering shaft clunk

Tranny stays in 2nd at stop light, then slams into 1st.

Headliner coming un-done

I could go on, but whats the point. I should have stayed with Ford.

The staying in second issue is also a PCM update.

Come on now, not a Ford! LOL

I would LOVE to have firmer shifts.

Thats my biggest complaint on my truck. Car like shifts!

Put a good shift kit in there and change the trans programming. that will certainly fix that.
