Front Speaker and Subwoofer Question

I am looking at replacing the front door speakers (and possibly the rear door speakers as well) in my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500. Would it be best to just buy a 2 way or 3 way speaker and use a dual tweeter setup or would it be better to buy a component system and replace both speakers in the enclosure? I was looking at the Infinity Reference 6010cs component system (or something comprable to this). Could anyone please give me some advice on this? Also looking at possibly adding a subwoofer underneath the rear seat. Not looking for anything to rattle the windows---just want something to enhance the sound. I will be keeping the stock head unit as of now--may replace it in the future, but don't have the cash to do it now. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I would go with the Infinity 6 1/2" component system definitely! This will give you the best sound quality by far, but also more expensive. You could probably go with some standard co-axial 6 1/2" speakers also and would still sound okay, for less money. The speakers in the back doors (exra cab?) are 4X6 so not going to add much in terms of bass but will definitely sound better than stock.

I replaced the two front speakers with some subwoofers from JC Whittney but they have a lower frequency range and I lost some midrange sound up front. I also put two 8" subs (in individual boxes) powered by a Pioneer amp, under the back seat. This definitely adds the extra bass that I couldn't get with just adding speakers in the doors. I also have some Kicker 4X6 speakers in the back doors. This system sounds great, but my next addition will be the component speakers in the front doors.

So it sounds like component speakers in the front are the way to go....anyone else have any opinions?? Thanks!

I replaced my front with sony6 1/2 component and rear with pioneer 4x6 3way and planning on adding 2 10" rockford fosgate subs in either a q-logic box or mtx thunderform box... you should really check out these sub boxes if you haven't already
