Moving a Safe

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3L 3.23 with the G80 and was wondering if i could safely put a 1500lb safe in the bed of the truck to move it about 5 miles. i have a way to get it in on a pallet and i would remove the tailgate to load it because i know that would snap like a twig. if i can than what can i expect suspension wise???

I would recommend borrowing or renting a small single axle trailer with a ramp/tailgate for this. Your truck is too new to risk seriously denting the bed because this is a concentrated load.

You can rent a pretty good 5X10 trailer from U haul for about 20 bucks/day. I would not even think about it twice. But if you decide to put in the truck's bed after all, place a 4X8 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood on the bottm first to spread out the load.

+1

I helped move a gun safe and not only was it easier to move around in the trailer, it's safer all the way around.

And if you put it in the bed, strap it down good. It doesn't take much braking for it to come sliding forward and push the front of the bed into the back of the cab.
