Ok...I got the 20% put on my fronts...Here in MD you can only go 35%...so clearly i am too dark...but heres the question i have about this

If you get pulled over by a cop that was just yelled at for not giving enough tickets and so he wanted to jack you:

What is the penalty for having too dark of tint?

How do they know its 20 instead of 35?

Anything else helps!!

They make you roll your window half down, and then they stick a little machine on the window, and it reads what % it is. I have no idea what the fee is.

back in the early 90's I got pulled over on base (FT.Benning GA) for having dark tint on my truck windows. The MP used a litte machine to measure how dark my tint was and then wrote me a ticket for it. The ticket was going to cost me $25 but since I had a Louisiana drivers license and the truck had Louisiana tags I did not have to pay the ticket. :banghead:

haha....NO WAY...I love my chevy and have chevy everything...i rarley have something on that doesnot have chevy on it somewhere...anyways...

I mostly just like the tint because of how it looks with the rest of the "black" truck. So i am now just trying to get a heads up on the tint violations incase i come upon one so i know what to expect..

ANYBODY? :thumbs::flag::banghead::dupe:

Couldn't find fines but did find this.

It is stupid to have different laws for different states. What happens when you go out of state and are pulled over? You'll probably end up getting a ticket for something thats perfectly legal in your state.

Kind of like how the lightbars used to be. Here in Wisconsin they were legal, but if your lightbar I believe had red anywhere in it, if you crossed the border to illinois and didnt have a cover over it, you'd get a ticket for it. A bunch of crap if you ask me.

Anyways, I see the reason for not allowing completely black tintouts. Its obviously a safety concern for the police. But I do have to agree darker windows do look good with Black.

In Texas, I have seen / heard them offer vehicle impoundment, or supply you with a razor to remove the tint on the spot. You might not be allowed to drive the vehicle away from the pull-over with the tint on the glass.

It is a safety concern for the officers here. About ten years ago, I think, two police officers were killed at a pull-over and the main reason for their deaths was because they couldn't see inside what they were up against and following ambush.

In Northern Michigan, the city police gave me a fix-it ticket for a conversion van that had tinting on all the windows. Up here, the law is no tint at all on the front drivers or passengers windows. Windshield can have a strip up to 6" wide on the top, the rear window(s) can be as dark as you want. No fine if the illegal tinting was removed within 10 days of the ticket.

i think its is reall bad when states like PA and RI require 70% all around, but God blessed Texas with 25% up front and Back and unlimited on the back window

In Ontario, 35% for the front windows (and nothing on the windshield of course).

Rest of the vechicle doesn't matter.

If you get pulled over, most often they'll give you 48-72hrs to remove the tint to avoid a fine.

The tint of my windows is darker that what is allowed, and after 4 years, haven't had any problems. I've driven my truck all across Canada and even down to Miami FL with no issues. Perhaps I'm just lucky.
