Crashed my Truck

So on 3/15 some idiot pulled out in front of me, and pulled directly into me. I tried to avoid him, but couldn't because he was looking the other way, and just kept comming.

I monster trucked his car, went over the hood and wrecked my baby. My 2002 has now had the bed replaced (sand bags slid forward taking out the front of the bed and bent the sides in), whole front right suspension (the wheel was pushed back 8 inches), front 1/4 panal, whole front bumper, grill, lights, front diff, frame needs to be fixed so it is true again, some cross members, radiator support, plow frame.... You get the point.

Man it sucks, 7 stiches to the head, and no hope for getting my truck back for another 2 weeks. It is going to end up being over 1 month it will be in the shop. They should have just totalled it, but didn't see all the damage at first, once they got into it, they found more and more.

Sorry just wanted to vent a little

Sucks man, hang in there. I crashed my 82 K-10 back in the day (I'm talking 1988) and to my surprise they did not total it. Takes a lot to total a 4x4 out these days.

Hang in there and demand they fix it right...since you aren't paying for the repairs.

I don't know man..... I am of the opinion that once the frame is bent that no matter how much you tug on that SOB it is never ever the same. My advice, and take it for what it is worth, Get the truck back and either trade it in or sell it outright. Sorry this happened to you, I know I would be totally freaked out. I hate to park my truck in parking lots because not matter how far away I park there is always one assh*le who will park right on top of your door and then bang the daylights out of your paint. Thank God my truck is Silver birch because it does not show too badly. Well thank God your alright and good luck.

The funny thing is that the repairs are about what it is worth if I sold it outright. They insurance company said if they saw all the damage up front it would have been totalled, but since it came in parts, if they paid me $25,000 on top of the $22,000 they have put into it, it would cost them $47,000. So whats another $5,000 in repairs, still cheper then replacing it.

I'd have to agree with paulie....I had an old Ford Stranger 4x4 ....wrecked it bent the frame. It was straightened out, but I always tore up tirese every 20,000 miles...Two sets of tires in a year.....Needless to say I got rid of that problem. A bent frame is always bent no matter how much it is straightened.

For what it's worth, I got t-boned in my '86 and definitely had a bent frame. They fixed the frame up just fine, and the sheet metal, and the truck drove really nice, about the same as before the accident. It didn't pull to either side, didn't track funky, or anything. Drove it another 60k miles after that and still sold it with 155,000 miles for 30% of what it cost new.
