There is something wrong with my dog

My dog hits 12 next week(we think, she was one of the puppys found in a litter of stray full-bloodline pug, odd deal since they were worth $300 a piece, and no one claimed them...we got her for free when I was a kid b/c a guy that worked with my dad found them)

Here's the thing, when dogs get old, along wioth everything else, they slow down right? This pug is speeding up. My parents kept her when I bought my house and moved out, but everytimes I see her she's going full speed. My dad said he can alk her for half a mile or more and she's still trying to pull him around( the boxer my brother has poops out around this time, and some of you know their limitless energy) I mean, she takes her dog bed(twice her size) an drags it around an tries to toss it in the air(ends up on top of her), and she even builds "forts" with it and hides....wierd.

Having a purebred golden cocker spaniel named Copper, I can tell you with 100% certainty that he has been just as energetic as the day we first got him. He's 10 now and still a goofball. Where my dad lives now is chock full of pheasants, turkeys, deer, and rabbits that are so big, we think that a Southern US Jackrabbit was crossed with an Angora pet bunny, they did it like only rabbits can do, and Voila, instant freak-bunny. And this d**n dog will chase these animals like there's no tomorrow, without so much as slowing down to take a dump. Well, he'll slow down to do that, but the second he's done, it's back to Mach 5.5 with him again.

Not a friggin thing wrong with your dog, imho. She's just getting her second wind. Let her enjoy life as only she can, and you'll both be happy.

My dog is on crack too. His name is Rocky, and he is a Boxer/Mastiff mix. Really good looking dog, looks like he'll tear off your head and crap down your neck, but if you come to pet him, he'll probably pee on your shoe. LOL. Anyways, when I get home from work, he goes nuts. Absolutely insane. He runs around the house as fast as he can, doesn't matter what he runs into or through. His a** goes to the floor, his head goes up, and he's gone. Thinkin about trying some Seafoam. LOL.

Pugs are funny dogs... i'd hate to see mine speed up, shes fast already. For a dog that isnt supposed to be very active she is very playful. She plays full contact wresting with a full grown newfounland/lab retreiver X. Did you find that your pug was easy to train? because i'd like to get another one, i just want to make sure i didnt get a superdog or something like that.

Well, Pugs are generally supposed to be extremely to train, considered some of the most stubborn dog breed in teh world(they were, for centuries, a breed preferred by royality in Europe; the Prince of Orange's monument statue has a pug statue with it, because he was never without that dog after it saved his life by warning him of a murder-intent intruder), so that's probably where they got it). I've read a bit about them and theya re supposed to be some of teh more intellegent dogs, becuase they CAN learn anything, it's just they are so set in doing what they want that most owners don't have enopugh patience to put up with training them more than a trick or two.

that said, my pug CAME potty trained. we got her around 4-5 weeks old, and in the twelve yeare she's only had a few accidents. We NEVER trained her, just let her out a few time a day and she figured it out on her own.

We knew NOTHING about pugs when my dad picked her up, took us a wile to realize we got a $200-$300 dog for free! But we knew she was smart because she could escape from the yeard at will. she found more ways out than we knew existed. that was before she got to big to fit through the places!

We really didn't train her, but she'll sit if you tell her most the time, because we had a boxer and she started seeing teh boxer get treats she it sat, she started sitting too. we also "trained" her to dance, for treats.

My pug potty trained herself i guess... she started to claw at the balcony door when she was 10 weeks old. I dont know if shes getting trained, or just likes getting lots of praise. She runs around the house like a nut when i get home... and then grabs my socks and drags me to the floor and then liks my face for about 5 minutes... is that... normal LOL
