Low speed ABS activation

I love my truck but, my 2000 Silverado has a ABS problem. As I brake coming down to a stop (20 MPH or slower) and I run over a crack in the road , a man hole cover, a piece of gravel, or any small debris, the ABS kicks in and doesn't stop pulsing until I either reapply the brakes or come to a complete stop. When this happens it takes alot longer to stop. Just like you're skidding on ice. It does this only every so often, but It did it the other day behind another car. I almost took him out. While researching TSB's I ran accross a recall released in the northern states and Canada having to do with road salt corrorision and the ABS sensors. It mentioned that a number of people had driven through thier garage back wall because of this. This sounds just like my problem. So, I called a number of local dealers and they didn't seem to know anything about it. The truck was purchased new in Tennessee, where I live, so road salt is not a problem here, but I'm not the original owner of this truck(70,000 miles) and he could have driven the thing anywhere. Has anybody else run into this, IF so, what is needed to fix the problem.

Hi there from Canada ( where this is common ), yeah you have described it too a tee about the road crack and then the abs kicking in. You will have to have your abs sensors cleaned to fix the problem. I have had it happen before and I pulled the fuse till it was fixed, scary when it happens slowing behind a vehicle. good luck

 

I payed 200 to have mine done, Gm re-imbursed me when the recall came out though
