Torque Management

Recommended Posts

I've been reading a few threads from ya'll with different tunes and some of the posts talk about removing teh torque management. What exactly is it, what does it do, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of removing it?

Thanks

Besides being the

Torque management will not let full throttle be applied under certain conditions, for instance from a dead stop. Or (i believe) it retards the timing. Anyhows, GM has this software installed in the PCM to help the driveline's longevity.

Well if that's the case, has anyone experienced driveline failure due to removing this? I"m sure over time it'll wear prematurely.

If you do get a tune, whoever does it, can remove the TM. The diablo hand tuner can also do it too, If you dont want to get a custom tune.

Traction control is just one form of torque mangement. It will close the throttle blade in ETC cars and trucks. It will also pull timing during shifts to reduce torque through the transmission and even disable cylinders when it "thinks" it's being abused.

Will a superchips programmer remove torque managment?  For a 04 gmc sierra?

The SC tuner will take alot of the torque managment out of the trucks program.

The TM is a basically goveroring via the vehicles computer to limit the amount of torque that the motor can give to the transmission. This uses the wheel speed along with throttle position to come up with how much torque the computer will allow the drive line to see. If you don't abuse the vehicle you should not have any issues with the vehicles longevity.

We have been using Tm reduction in out GM products for years.

If you have any questions feel free to drop me a email or call.
