adding foglights on new silverado?

i was going to get the oem foglights for my 06 silverado and my dealer told me 300.00 installed....he said it came with a new plastic lower piece and then had to have the computer done so it would reconize the lights...my truck already has the light switch in the dash....any other options?

You do not need to program the computer on an '06 truck. The foglight kit comes with a new switch, which is a dual switch replacing the existing single swithc in the dash. Yes, the foglight kit comes with a new lower valance panel with light cutouts.

so then i could just buy the foglight kit from ckresto.com for 200.00 and install it myself?

I'd put a relay and use the OEM switch. This way you don't have to pay for a program.

The OEM fog light kit retails for about $ 220. It comes with everything you need to do an easy professional factory look installation.
