Fuel line removal from fuel pump

Do I need a special tool to remove the fuel lines from my fuel pump on my 98 K1500 Z71. Thanks in advance..Mike

If it's anything like a 1998 Tahoe 4x4, then yes. You'll risk damaging the ends of the fuel lines without the tool, and you certainly don't want that. My friend said he replaced the fuel pump on his Tahoe without the tool and nearly boogered up the fuel lines to where he would have had to replace them too.

 

I'd guess that places like AutoZone or AdvanceAuto might have the tool to rent or borrow. They can probably tell you too whether you need a special tool or not for sure.

You should need a fuel line disconnect tool. They run about 5 bucks at the parts store.
