Check out the gm soft tonneau cover

I too wanted a hard lid but went the $270 route and bought a gm soft cover.  Couldnt be happier.  Rolls up when you have large loads and you dont have to leave it open like a hard lid.  Lot cheaper too

He is right about that, but since I have one, I'll tell you about mine. Anyway, for the look and function I wanted the hard shell was the way for me. I have a Snuglid by Snugtop The one I have is a low profile, as low as they get. They are not cheap, mine was around $850 drive out. I like it, because you can lock it and no-one can get to your stuff, and you can open it with one hand. I don't know how the soft lids work now days, but I had one on my Sonoma back in 93 and liked it too, it was a snap on but mounted on top of the bed on rails.

I had an Astro lid on my 99 Sierra that I purchased from an Astro factory store.  It was domed enough for water to run off but had a nice low profile.  Color match was good for the 75K miles I owned the truck.  There was a small amount of water intrusion and a fair amount of road dust intrusion from the side gaskets.  The lock required constant lubing and still had to be replaced.  (Simple job, though.)  Also, one of two front braces cracked after about 50K miles.  The replacement braces (and all current ones) are thicker.  While they didn't charge much for the replacement braces and lock, I was disappointed that they charged at all.

My son went with a Truxedo and a pop-n-lock for his S-10.  So far, so good.  I'll have the truck for the next few months while he's at Parris Island (heh, heh) so I'll have 1st hand experience with it.  This fall he wants to take it to 29 Palms for the next year and we'll see how it does in the desert.

I have a roll-n-lock best of both worlds, rolls out of the way to haul stuff but also secure to store stuff. it looks like a soft cover but (i guess)is aluminum on bottom.I've had all three the soft cover never seemed to fit after about a year, the hard one was to hard to get off by your self to haul a couch or frig, the rollnlock leaks sometimes but I think that is my fault ,don't think I installed the drain hose right.anyway its your choice.Have a good one

I have the fiberglass lid from ARE, I had one on my '95 Silverado and now one on my '02. They have made a lot of changes since then and are way better now, with better braces and shocks. The one I hade before let in some dust but this one doesnt. It is about 2-3 inches high and has the raised crease down the center like the hood. The lock and handle are also better than before, being close to the surface therefore not allowing someone to just hit the andly with a hammer and get in. I thought about getting the roll type that locks but it was a couple hundred more and wasnt color matched. The approximate weight is 120lbs!

I just got a LEER 700 tonneau and am very happy with it. They made several changes this year that sold me. They now have rotary automotive type latches, and a single button with finger latch control that is very small and works well. It is well balanced, fits well and opens and closes easily.  They matched my color perfectly too. They also gave it a slight shape like the hood of the truck that I think adds a lot to its appearance.  It's not as low profile as some like, but take a look...maybe you'll like it too.

I got a Century cargo cover.  It was 700, to paint the trim is an extra 25 dollars.  I decided to be different and get the model that goes around the whaletail protector.
