Used the Diablo Programmer now truck won't start!

HELP! I just purchased a Diablo Sport Prower Programmer for my 2002 GMC 2500HD. After installing a tune I decided to go back to the factory tune. Lets not get into why. Anyway at 91% the programmer says CHECKSUM ERROR and terminates the upload. Great. So I try to start the truck. It doesn't start. So I try to go back to the Diablo Tune figuring i can at least drive it to the shop and have a friend of mine put it on the TECH II. The programmer says there is "No VIN Found, would you like to restore the original tune?" I click YES and it get to 91% and errors out again. Please tell me there is some way to fix this.

**EDIT** I just tried to upload the backup files i made on my PC with the Diablo Interface Software. The software keeps telling me "Invalid File Format." Sweet Jebus can this get any worse?

It seems Diablo has had this problem before with this year and make. The tech support guy I talked to is overnighting me a new programmer with a factory tune installed in it. The down side is i have to be at work by 8:00am tomorrow and I'm on duty for 24 hours so I won't have a chance to see if this fixes it until Saturday. And of course Diablo is only open M-F, as is my local GM shop. :driving: So it looks like worst case I might be riding the bike until Monday or Tuesday, with a forcast of 75% chance of rain all weekend.

Good luck with that.

Do you happen to live at the top of a long, steep hill? [/wingnut reply]

Another victim of Diablow. Hope you're up and running ASAP.

Another victim? This is a common problem?! I can honestly say I won't be using the tuner (or any other tuner) on my truck after it gets fixed, and it will probably go up on eBay for a cheep price because it will have to be unlocked. I think I'll just stick to hot rodding my motorcycle.

I'm not a fan of Diablow. I ran one their units in my Duramax - high temps, surging, etc. On top of that, Nick @ Diablow did everything in his power to avoid helping those who were disatisfied with their tuning "updates"

Anyway, my Predator is now a several hundred dollar paperweight that can't be sold 'cause it's locked to my VIN.

Tuning your truck is something to consider, but just look at the many alternative tuners that have a solid rep, and offer superb customer service:

Gassers: Nelson and Westers

Diesel: Edge, Quadzilla, Bullydog, SCT by Innovative Diesel (Power Strokes), etc.

Are you back up and running?

The tuner hasn't arrived yet. Plus I'm on duty today so I won't get a chance to see if it works until tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to *try* and get Diablo to unlock my tuner for free if it fixes the problem. It probably won't work but it won't hurt to try.

RON....Don't bum out !

If you search these forums you will see that ALL of these tuners/PCM

burns have issues from time to time !

I know from reading other posts the Diablo is a tricky unit to set up.

For the record I run a Hypertech 3 and have had no problems.......

Good luck and keep us posted!............geo

Well good news to report. I had my Dad (who happens to be a 35+ year GM tech, guess who I called first when this happened) go by my place and run the tuner for me. It fixed the problem thank goodness. Then I got to listen to him lecture me that if I'm going to mess with one of those #^%$ programmers I had better get a second ECM and keep my original one in a nice safe place. Since this is my daily driver I'm really thinking about just not messing with it at all anymore.
