Misrepresentation from GMC employee

Hello Everyone,

I really need your advise on the following issue!

I just recently bought a 2004 GMC ENVOY from a private person in Texas. The Vehicle had a Salvage title, but before I purchased the truck I called GMC to see if there was any warranty remaining on the truck. The representative I called ensured me that my truck was covered until the end of September 2006.

Based on this information I decided to purchase the truck. Anyways to make the story short, while driving my transmission cooler line blew and the radio stopped working and when I took the truck into GMC I was notified that the warranty was blocked and GMC will not cover it.

I have called customer service and they verfied that the agent made a mistake and the warranty was locked and even though it was their agents fault they will not help me in any way.

Does anyone have suggestions on what steps I can take to resolve this issue and maybe a number that I can to esscalte this issue.

I don't know the answer but I feel if he told you it would be covered then they should cover it. Thats horses**t!

I know and to top it off the a$$ at GMC Customer Centre will not give me any contact infromation or numbers of where I can escalate this issue. That's why I was hoping someone here will be able to help me.

They're not going to give you numbers because they're not liable for the truck. It's been totaled.

I hate to tell you man, but you're going to do a lot of yelling, screaming, running in circles pulling your hair out, and talking to peoples bosses...But in the end, you're probably going to be SOL.

Aftermarket warranty companies probably won't even touch a salvage title. Some insurance companies won't even insure them.

Sorry man...This sucks

I don't know why the rep. told you what he told you,as far as the truck being covered, but like Wingnut said your SOL.

I've worked in a GM dealer for almost 17 years and the only thing GM will cover on a "salvage" vehicle is recalls, because recalls are saftey issues and mandated and required by the government (But I've even heard of some dealers giving guys a hard time about doing recalls on "salvage" vehicles) other than that nothing is or will be covered.

On the tranny cooler line they can say that whoever put the truck back together did not tighten or properly install the line,on the radio issue they can say that it was caused by a cut wire that "shorted-out".

We had a Cavy that was an R-Title and they would not cover it which I don't blame them but when a Rep says they will then they should honor what he said. He is their Rep.

Normally I don't blame them for not warranting the truck, but there agent said it was, they should stand behind it. That is what any other buisness would do. I think if it was bad enough a court case/jury would agree that the company should stand behind what they say. Was that call "recorded or monitored"? so that you can prove they said it was covered. Did you tell them it was a salvaged title? If so I would scream and yell, kick and fight, pinch and bite, cuss and holler, tooth and nail. A good lawyer wouldn't hurt either.

That's a very good point. A coworker of mine called our Health Insurance to see if a certain procedure was covered and they told him yes, after he has it he gets a bill saying he wasn't covered for that. Luckily he wrote down the date, time and who he spoke with and they ended up paying because the call was recorded and the Rep told him he was covered.

Should still be covered even with a salvage title, my mom bought an 01 XJ Cherokee in 02 with 11k on it and it was covered until the factory warranty was out. Before my Silverado (also a salvage title) I had an 03 Toyota Tacoma TRD (bought with 4,800 miles in 03 and a salvage title) and all 10 times I went to the dealer with problems they were covered by the factory warranty. That GMC dealer is giving you a load of BS.
