Transfer Case Leak?

The transfer case is weeping oil from what looks like a defect in the case casting, Is this covered in the new truck(3yrs.or 36K)warrantee?

No matter whats causing the leak,if your under 3/36 its covered.

That is unless you a few buddies were out stump-jumping and you hit the case and cracked it!!!

I had the same problem a few years ago when my truck was under warranty. Ended up it was the magnesium outer shell for the transfer case. I had 3 pinion seals replaced before they realized it was the casing that was cracked right by the rear pinion seal. They covered it under warranty which I was glad because it was a very expensive job to replace the whole transfer case guts into a new case. I would also offer to buy new fluid and change it again shortly after break in. I also made sure while they were there to check for any bad bearing and offered to pay for anything that needed replacement while they were there. they ended up lettin warranty replace a couple bearing. More than likely they just got beat up when they took it apart. Wow you'd almost think I was happy with the job, the only dealing I had with the dealer I liked actually.

I noticed a spot that looked like oil when I wiped it under the oil you can see where the metal looked like it didn't melt right in that spot,slag.The weeping of oil though alum/Magnesium is Porosity

I've seen porosity in aluminum wheels over the years (We've changed a few wheels under warranty here for porosity)

That would definetly be under the 3/36 warranty.
