Aftermarket Headlight Switch?

Recommended Posts

Need to replace my headlight switch for my '98 Yukon....this is the third time. GM dealership price has jumped from around $20 to $89. Anyone know if I can buy a switch at an auto parts store for less....GM switches seem to be junk anyways.

If the switch is frying, you might try putting relays in for the low and high beams (I don't think you have relays in this truck). Then the switch is only activating the relay coils instead of having the full headlight load going through the switch. If you use heavy wire you will also gain 5-10% brightness as the voltage drop going though the switch will be eliminated.

I have the painless quad high beam kit in the truck too. Think this is frying the switches?

For what its worth guy at the dealership said new higher price is cause they switched vendors for the switch since so many complained about frying them so often.
