when I was selling New cars DEMO stood for DEMOLITION. Demos' were Driven hard and put away wet.

I don't know what the dealer today gets for putting vehicles into demo service, back when I was at a dealership it was only around $ 500.00 less than normal invoice. And that was only on certain vehicles (special vehicles did not qualify) Plus the vehicles had to be pulled out of Demo service before 3,000 miles,

Demos were driven by many people and in some cases given to customers while their cars were in service or if we neede to de-horse a customer for a few days while his new vehicle was in route to the dealer.

I would do some comparision shopping from different dealers on a NEW truck with all of the extras you want and see how it stacks up.

If he was willing to sell it new for 30.4K and only knocked 1k off for demo, either get a better deal or run. Take a look at Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book and see what happens to a vehicle once you drive it off the lot!!!!! When I bought my Tahoe, I checked 1 month later and it had lost about 20% of it's value. The depreciation from New to Used is incredible. Never nearly as big a drop in future years compared to the first year.

Look at it this way, would you spend 1K more to have it new? I know I would. I may beat on my vehicles but I know everything that was done good and bad. Now if he was willing to drop 5K, I might be all over it.

Good luck whatever you do.

Of course, they always tell you that it was the general manager's personal vehicle and that only he drove it and nobody else. The truth is probably closer to what is described above.

On the plus side, if you buy a vehicle with 6k miles and nothing is wrong with it, you may have a good vehicle. When you buy it new, you never know what you get. It may develop severe vibration in the first 2000 miles, or the rear end may start whining loudly. Getting it fixed is not always easy, warranty or not.

If this is a crew cab, a sliding rear window is a useless option as you will never be able to reach it from the driver's seat. If GM was not so cheap and provided a power rear sliding window, like almost all other truck manufacturer's do, it would be worth it. The axle gear ratio is good.

Remember also that if you're financing, every $1000 equals roughly $35 in the monthly payment. Take that for what you will.

Actually it is more like $25 for every $ 1000 financed with today's interest rates, and that is for a 48 month loan. $ 35 for every $ 1000 would mean a very high interest rate, or very short term loan.

Yadda yadda.....roughly $35 depending on where you're having it financed. I'd be more than happy to get it down to the penny if you like. :seeya:

No need. I just paid off my 48 month loan of about $ 10,500. The payment was about $ 250 at 4.99% interest rate. This translates to roughly $ 25/$1000 financed. If it was a 60 month loan, it would have been more like $ 20/$1000 financed.

So, according to your claim, $ 35 per $ 1000 financed translates to $ 1,050/month for a $ 30,000 OTD truck. I never heard of anybody making a payment that high on a $ 30k vehicle over a 48 or 60 month term with the present interest rates. And they often approve 72 month term loans on vehicles costing over $ 25K. Which would then mean about $ 18/$1000 financed.

My 06 Z71 Crew LT was a dealer demo, well... my buddy drove it for 6 months and put 7000 miles on the truck we ordered to class it as a demo!

I saved about 10,000. List my truck was 47,000+ with leather and sunroof (no rear slider, xm or DVD... everything else)

Plus add in my GM discount, I was around 35,000 out the door. (CANADIAN)

Lease works out to 450 with 1500 down. One of the guys is right on, every 1000 is 30 or so dollars off your lease. So don't put too much down if you not going to keep it!! :seeya:

I've had 2 demos and never had a problem with either. Had a trailblazer and now our Tahoe was one as well. Had it for a year with 0 problems. From what I've seen on a demo, the extra discount will basically equate to them giving up all or most of their holdback, or about an additional 3% of the original MSRP.
