Back in the Saddle

I was going to post in the Newbie section, seeing as I haven't posted here in quite some time, but figured I'm not actually a newbie. I had a '99 Z71 but traded it for a car when I decided to go back to grad school. School was 65 miles away, each way, and 3-4 trips per week would have put me in the poor house. My wife drives an '03 Yukon but I wasn't posting here because it's her vehicle and all, but I have been checking in from time to time.

Anyway, I graduated in December and tonight I finally rejoined the GM truck family. I traded the car for an '06 Chevy Z71, extended cab, 310 hp truck. It's awesome- dark green, light gray leather, sunroof, 6 disk Bose, XM, etc. Only 12 miles on her- I'll get back on performance when she's broken in a bit. I do know that if there was another coat of paint on the bumpers it wouldn't fit in the garage, guess it's slightly longer than the '99 regular cab long bed.

The yard truck I bought in the interim is now for sale- we have horses and I needed something to get hay and stuff with. '90 Chevy Scottsdale, 2500, 4x4, 350/5 speed, Flowmaster, BFG Mud-Terrains- currently for sale. Anyone in the northern New England area with $3,750 can take it home! Great truck.

Just turned 500 miles tonight (bought it 2 days ago...) and I'm starting to get a feel for the truck. So far so good- very comfortable, nice power (though I haven't gone anywhere near full throttle), no real complaints. The 3.42 rear seems a bit doggish, but it was nice to cruise at 78 mph and 2,000 rpm on my 400 mile round trip today. I think I'm going to like this truck.
