My fan clutch was stuck so I went and bought one from the Zone. I used the haynes manual. Well I was doing what they said, Hold the pulley bolt while using the special service tool, loosen the fan clutch nut. Well It didn't work and I tried forever. Any ideas on how to get this off?

Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

all you need to do it put a big wrench( a big cresent fits them good) on the fan clutch, put a cheater pipe on it so it clears the fan and give it a whack with a hammer to break it free. I have done a few of those and thats all it has ever taken to get one off.

I went to autozone and got the sst and even put a breaker bar on it and still couldn't get it. I tried to hammer it but nothing. Plus the pulley wouldn't stay still enough.

Sorry for the long delay, I was away.

The manauls just shows the direction of the bolts.

But as you notice at the top of the service manual page I posted, you'll need the special wrench.
