Exhaust Kit Packaging

Anyone thats ordered exhaust kits, more so the cat-back kits from anywhere, can you tell me if all the pipe sections were wrapped when they were sent to you. THe reason I ask is I ordered a Magnaflow kit and only the tips and muffler were wrapped. The thing is everything was thrown into a hacked box and shipped to me. The pipe sections that werent wrapped have a bunch of "Half Moon" shapes from slamming against each other. I'm pretty pissed as I paid a lot of money for this, I expect it to be polished stainless steel like its supposed to be. Half the piping isnt even polished. Its almost like its faded or something. Before I send this pissed off email to the company, I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

When I bought my Borla, it came in a box and completely filled with that expanding foam they pour in after the parts and it expands to fill most all free space.

I wouldn't be happy if they were rattling around during shipping. Then again, if no dents it really doesn't matter as not many will see the underside of your vehicle.

But there are half moon dents in half the pipe sections that werent wrapped. I realize its going to be under my truck, but I ordered this thing and it was supposed to be mirror polished stainless steel. It looks like crap and hardly polished. I just wanted to see how others received theirs before I complained to the company.

I just looked at the sections while sitting side by side...I guess I wont really see where its all scratched up. Maybe I'm overreacting, just seems to be you spend that kind of money, they should send it decently packaged without a scratch on it.

If it were me, if there were any dents in the tubes, I would complain. If just scratched, I would live with it. I agree with you that you pay quite a bit of coin and it should arrive in "mint" condition.

I would look it over real close before deciding what to do. If it is dented in any way that will hinder the performance, I would fire off that really scathing email. If it is scratched and dented in ways that will not bother you in the long run and yours is not a show truck, I would talk to them anyway so they know that the condition bothers you. They might (if they are smart) fix the shipping issue before it becomes a real problem for them. They might even refund your shipping costs for your troubles if you are lucky.

When I had a gibson cat-back system shipped to me a few years back (currently installed on my truck), it was all loose in the box. Except for the muffler and exhaust tip.

Didn't bother me as any scratches wouldn't show as it's under the truck.

However, dents are a different issue!

If you are unhappy with the product, CALL. I would not send an email. Email is over rated with regard to customer service. I would call the company, tell them exactly what your unhappy with, and ask them what they are going to do about it.

Don't yell or get all condescending, be very clear about your dissatisfaction and that you would like them to do something about it. If you didn't order the exhaust directly from the manufacturer then you need to start with the company that you ordered it from.

Just my two pennies...

Thanks for the suggestions and info. There are a few tiny dents in the muffler. The other pipes with the half moon shape little dents are in front and not seen so I decided to put it on. I think I will still contact the company regarding the "cardboard blob" since it wasn't even close to being considered a box and see what happens from there. I guess their response will be the deciding factor if I order from them again. Thanks again for all the help. On a good note, they do sound really nice on my truck.
