Master Window Switch

glafemina

Question

My 99 silverado 4x4 5.3l ext cab using the master window switch I can put the passenger window down. When I try to put passenger window up, it does not work. I have to reach over and use the passenger window switch to put the window up. I think I have a problem with the master window switch because I have power mirrors, and they dont work either with the switch. I have removed the switch and checked the one and only connector going to it, and its tight. All wires going to the switch look ok. Is it a bad master window switch from having all those water droplets hit it after all these years?

The master switch is you best bet. There is an up and down relay in the right switch. If the right window works both ways with the right switch the relays are good. The master switch supplies the ground to either relay.

Did you try to just clean the terminals/contacts of the switch ?

My previous Jimmy had a similar problem and it was just dirty contacts.

Some light sanding and all was fine.

Just a thought before ya spend any $$'s on a fix ya might not need.
