99 Yukon won't start

My Yukon died on the highway, after it sputtered and I pressed on the gas pedal. I never had any previous problems prior to this.

The fuel filter is new, so I know that cant be the problem. The humming sound doesnt come on when turning the key to the start postion (is that a sign that the fuel pump isnt working or is it the fuel relay fuse). When I try starting it, the engine cranks over and over again. Not sure what it can be........please give some helpful advice.

Sounds like the fuel pump has gone to hell.

I brought one home by buying a new pump dumping it in a 5 gallon can of gas, powering it by the cigar lighter and splicing it into the existing fuel line before the filter. Cool.
