Ducky Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Hey hey, My name is Adam... I recently found out I had another child on the way and my 4 seater Mazda Rx8 wouldnt do, so I traded to a 03 Sierra SLT Z71. Got a few Questions... I guess I could search but theres alot of posts to read though, so if its been covered feel free to link me to the conversation, or just tell me. Im looking at Tuners that can clear/diagnose trouble codes and such, what does everyone use and like? My friend uses HPTuners.com tuner he likes it but it is pretty spendy. Whats everyones likes and dislikes? and I jumped below my rig to take a look at the underneath and was looking for fittings for my handy grease gun to top off the zerk fittings... and couldnt find any, did they hide them? is this different from my 95 silverado I had? Does rust just happen, like surface rust on the rear axle, from end to end? Im about to steel wool/wire brush it and rustolem it? is that wise? or just leave it? Adam AKA Ducky.
BurbanZ71 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Congrats on the growing family. As for grease fittings - try this link. Yes it is for a Tahoe / Suburban but should be very close. http://z71tahoe-suburban.com/iboard/index....c=1239&hl=zerks In short - there are 11 fittings. the rust question is a good one.
MS3DALE Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Welcoem On the tuners,I've been happy with my Hypertech Power Programmer III,You can read and clear codes with it. As far as the rust,Go ahead and steel wool/wire brush it and clean it up good and give'er a few good coats of paint, won't hurt a thing. I always go over my trucks as soon as I buy them brand-new to prevent rust in the first place, after that I'll spray it down with WD-40 all underneath once in a while, let it soak for a few minutes and then wipe it down,Yea I'm anal but I like a clean truck underneath as well as up-top!!!
