MPG on a 1500HD crewcab 4X4 ?

Considering getting a 2003 1500HD 4X4 this fall.  Since the EPA doesn't rate trucks over 8000 GVW,  what kind of gas milage could I expect out of the 6000 engine?  Tell me what you guys are getting on your 2002's.

I have a 2002 1500HD 4x4 w/3.73 Locking Rear Diff and an A.R.E. cap. I am currently at 5200 miles. I get anywhere from 12.5mpg to 16mpg. Usually 13mpg in town. I got 16.1mpg on a 950 mile trip. I put the cruise on 70mph. I would probably get a little better in town except that I like the 300 horses too much. I tow a 3000lb boat/trailer without any problem. I don't care about the MPG too much because I bought this truck to haul my family/gear and tow my boat and camper (I have not towed the camper yet as it is usually in one spot all year).

A guy at work has a 2002 1500HD 4x4 with 3.73 gears and his milage is just like Bob G. says, so I'd say you'd be in that ballpark if you chose that rear gear option.  Those figures are pretty good in my opinion for a 6000lb vehicle.  :)

My 02' 1500HD LT 4WD has 4.10 gears and averages 14.5 MPG consistently.  Thats with 85% of the daily mileage on the interstate (though some of that is idling in Atlanta traffic).  If I really "abuse" a tank it might go as low as 13.5 MPG. On 100% interstate driving at 70-75 MPH, I can usually squeek out just over 15 MPG.

FWIW, after seeing the numbers posted on the 3.73 gear I'm happy I got the 4.10.  The mileage hit appears minimal and after living with it for 15k miles I wouldn't want a taller gear.  That's just personal preference of course...

I have a 2002 1500HD LT  with 3.73 gears. I installed the trip computer from an escalade. It displays my mileage. In town I average 12, on the highway I average 14 to 16. Depending on wind conditions. I have 8000 miles on the truck now. It has slowly been getting better since day 1. My first tank I only got 222 miles. I can now get 360 miles to a tank. I worked it out and if you can get 406 miles to a tank, you would be making 16 miles to the gallon. I ordered a toneau cover last week. I will be installing it tomorrow. I hope to get an extra mile per gallon on the highway with the cover on.

Sorry I forgot to say, my truck is a 4*4.
