it won't reset or it shows clear with a short length of red - I failed to remember what it looked like before I changed it (I removed the filter held it up to a light to see how much light would pass thru it). I have tried pressing on it but it shows no change or movement after 3,000 miles.

 

what color should show if it were clogged or what should it look like after the filter is changed (clear ?)

It called a PCV valve. PVC is what you use to lay down sprinklers Its located behind the drivers side valve cover near the firewall.
