Gas Door Bumpers

I know this may be trivial to some of you, but hey, it's a slow Sunday night, so here goes.

VR's tip of the week...

I was washing the truck this afternoon and when I opened the gas door to dry the inside, I noticed one of my bumpers was laying inside the door next to the hinge. I have no idea how it got there without falling out completely, but I guess I'm lucky. Popped it back in the hole in the body and all is well. Just wondered if anyone else is missing their bumpers too? They fit kinda loose in the holes, so I'm in search of some bigger ones to replace them with. Had this problem with my '85 El Camino too. Nothing worse than a gas door rattle while you're cruising down the road. You guys might want to look at yours next time you fill up.

I actually still have 5 or 6 laying around.  Someone kept stealing them off my '99.  Haven't had any problems so far on the '02 (knock on wood).  They have a tendency to pop out if pushed on.

VR,

Advance Auto Parts sells a pack of rubber bumpers in different sizes.  Probably 4-5 different sized ones.  The last time I seen them, they were in the section that sells all the stuff in the red "Help" packaging.  I don't know off-hand what the sizes were, but do remember there was a couple of each size, and some different shapes.   Some of those might help you out.

Thanks Tom. I'll check them out next time I'm in the big city.

Heres one of those things for QA, General.

Makes me think, how'd you get to General with all these QA problems.

I had just got finished washing my rado one day and saw that I was missing one, I just happened to look down and there it was on the ground. I must have knocked it off while drying it. Luckily I still have all of mine!

Thats wierd that this post just came up. I knocked one of mine out for the first time the other day while putting gas in. I just picked it up and put it back in. So still have all mine.

Try this guys.  Take them off, put a dab of tht clear silicone on it, then reinstall it.  That should be more than enough to hold them on, but easy enough to get of, if you ever wanted/needed to.

Now, I guess I'll go check to see if mine are there.....

Yep.
