New stereo in 06 Sierra

Recommended Posts

I want to put a new head unit in my 06 Sierra EXT cab. It does not have the bose system, just the basic am/fm/cd with 4 speakers. The sound is bad and i want to add a new head unit and a pair of subs. I just have one question, will i lose the DIC (Driver Information Center) functions if i change the stereo, such as gas mileage, fuel used, and the other functions it has ? I want to change the stereo but i dont want to lose any of the options it came with.

Thanks Alot.

Nope, all you will lose is the ability to control the stereo via the steering wheel. All of the DIC functions work. I had the bose system and I gutted it for Polk Momo speakers all the way around, replaced the bose sub and amp with an Alpine Sub and Amp and put the Alpine IVA-D100 in it. A little pricey for the whole system, but if f*ckn rocks. I got pics if you want to see it. BTW if you want to keep your XM (if u even have it) u need a new antenna but u can change your subscription, plus you need a door chime kit if you still want that feature to exist.

I plan on using the alpine 9856 and getting the PAC steering wheel control interface. Will i still be able to scroll through the options, such as avg. gas mileage and fuel used using the steering wheel, as i can now or will i lose that ?
