2 10's in a good box sound better (meaning sealed not ported) but a 12 just has that fealing and sound wise 2 8's in a sealed box is better then 2 10's and 2 12's are better then 2 8's

most companys just take 8's and stick a bigger frame and cone to make a 10.

more important than any of that is makeing shure your amp meets the rms of the speakers at the correct ohms. 9 out of ten speakers sound bad or blow because of lack of power.

anyway

spl crowd (thump and bump) i 12 ported box

audiophile (like to listen not feel) 2 8's but 10's if you have to in a sealed box.

Honestly, you could have a single 10, or 50 18's, either way it is gonna sound like crap with Xplod gear. Hate to say it but it is true. Their product is just worthless. It is almost like Wal-Mart bought out the Xplod line so they can have a bottom of the barrel cheapo speaker to sell.

No offense to anyone who uses them. I mean i have an Xplod 10 in my truck for now, but knowing anything about car audio will tell you they are not worth $10.

My advice, pick up some gently used subs off ebay and get to town. If you are looking for a red sub, there are many many car audio shops that can airbrush the cones for a very small fee to match whatever you are wanting.

Also, if you have 2 subs, you will want to only run a mono block channel. 2 subs running on separate channels leads to alot of amp clipping. Can blow amps up like mad. And if you are using 2 seperate amps, it makes it much worse because it is next to impossible to tune 2 amps to make the exact same sound. So you will inevitably hear 1 channel over power the other channel.

PM me if you want some more in depth questions. I am in the process of putting 4 12's in an extended cab '97 Z71...pics to come shortly.

i put one 15" (2000 Watts) in mine with a 1750 watt amp pushing it. All depends on what kinda bass you want i guess. Then again i spent $3k plus just on my stereo system. Dont think most people want to spend over $500. Oh its a kicker 15 sl7 2ohms ask how if you wanna know it was an interesting setup but it thumps like no other regular cab silverado ive seen, plus the hi end will hurt you ears too
