So, who has installed the Elec. Fans?

I am leaning strongly toward the Flex-a-lite 282 fan system.

How many people have tried them? I am thinking I will be getting the kit within the next few weeks.

Any warranty concerns? Any tips for the install?

Anyone, Anyone?

He has dual FLX-150's. I am looking for people with the 282 kit. From what I am guessing, it is an entire system. Everything you would need is included. I am hopeing to make it as close to factory reliability as possible(with the improvement in mileage and power).

Here in texas, the stock fan at idle (~500rpm) just doesn't blow enough air! Now my truck will keep the engine temp normal no matter how hot it is. What I'm talking about is sitting in traffic in swelltering heat and the a/c will almost be warm air. I hate that. Dealer checked system for leaks, none. I'll get to the piont where I have to put the truck in N and rev to 1500rpm to get that damn fan pulling enough friggin air to my thick blooded Canadian needs, lol. I give dodge much props for putting a electric fan on there a/c condencer on there new trucks, even though I won't be caught dead with a dodge in my garage.

I'm pretty sure a nice pair ele. fans on my truck will blow ice out the vents like it does when on the freeway.

Are you sure you're not just low on freon? I live in Arizona where it's hotter than even Texas and the a/c is great. It needs a little at the beginning (I usually rev it to about 3 - 4k until it starts getting cool, then let it back to idle and pull out), but at stop lights and such when the truck is at idle the temperature doesn't change at all - I even have to turn the temperature knob to a little bit warmer or it's even a bit too cold.

Thats what I thought when i took it to the dealer to be checked out. I accaully said, i think it might need a little freon. They said, if your low on freon, there is defanitly a leak. But this is that "La Roche" dealer here in town, maybe I should go to Westside Chevrolet in Katy. They have the best dealer I've ever experienced, or even heard of. Some of the niced and coolest people ever to work at a dealership. They'll go way out of there way to keep you happy. They even replaced my two rear tires that I burned up in 10K for free. There garage is BIG, clean (you know when your shoes and tires squeek when you walk or drive on clean painted cement? That clean), very organized, and just a very comferting place to be if your Chevy should act up, or just getting maintanance done.

You could also have the opposite problem of too much refridgerant or a faulty pressure switch, which would cause a warm condition. Have the dealer show you the gauge on the manifold set and make sure they are reading the R134 and not the R12 or R22. Manifold sets seem to be multipurpose nowadays and have markings for all three refridgerants on the same gauge and comes with adapters in a kit.

Thats wild. It was 104 here today and by the time I got out of our parking lot(~0.3 mile), my A/C was blowing cold. I would look for a system problem, like low gas.

Anyone have anything to offer about the fans?

Are you sure you're not just low on freon? I live in Arizona where it's hotter than even Texas and the a/c is great. It needs a little at the beginning (I usually rev it to about 3 - 4k until it starts getting cool, then let it back to idle and pull out), but at stop lights and such when the truck is at idle the temperature doesn't change at all - I even have to turn the temperature knob to a little bit warmer or it's even a bit too cold.

just a little geography......

well, If, Texas is like Oklahoma(which I'm pretty sure is close,) Arizona is actually better in terms of heat. The humidity here blows away the dry heat you guys get in Arizona. I knew some people who lived in Pheionx for ten year they lived here for one summer, and they said they wanna go back becuase its better there. They said a regular 90 degree day here(in OK) was worse than a regular 110 degree day in Arizona.

Well I was really just refering to temperatures, an a/c would dry the air as it goes through anyway, either way he shouldn't be having a problem with it...
