??? For Avalanche Guys!

Hey guys, I know that the bed of the Av has a rubber bed mat, and the sides and tailgate are just plastic coated. Under the bed mat is just painted metal like a standard pickup bed. I was wondering if any of you have gotten this part sprayed with Line-X or something similar to help protect it under the rubber mat? Do you think this might be a good idea? Would it mess up the drainage system? I do know that water gets under the mat, does this become a problem for you guys? Anything you can suggest or tell me about this would be appreciated, my parents are actually looking into purchasing an Escalade EXT soon I test drove one last weekend...all I can say is wow!!! All replys are appreciated

It is overkill if your going to keep the bed covered most of the time, if your going to leave the covers off and haul cow #### every day it would be worth it - and yes it can screw up the drainage, just make sure you re-open them.

Thanks for the reply...how about moisture underneath the rubber mat, is this a problem? I have heard that condensation underneath the mat is a problem with these trucks, how bad is it? I'm just trying to do as much research as I can for the folks. I don't think they are planning on hauling any cow "stuff" in the bed of the EXT though!

There has been some comment on the moisture on some other boards, consensus is "no big deal"

I agree that it is unlikely that they will carry much manure in the bed of an EXT.

Hey Blue,

I'm sure your folks will enjoy their Escalade. I have a '02 Av Z66. I did notice a little rust spotting under the mat, so I steel brushed the bed and painted it with Rust-O-Leum. No more problems and I've had it a year. It's a great vehicle. You would enjoy one. I had a Silvardo before the Av.

Actually it's my wife's vehicle, as we traded her 95 'Vette on it!!

Thanks for the reply's Iceman and gandolphxx, I appreciate it! Well, I'm still thinking about this...I might suggest that my folks go for overkill and get the Line-X...heck, most would say the EXT is overkill to start with But what beautiful overkill it is!!! I test drove a Z71 AV yesterday, very nice vehicle, but I'll keep my S10 for now...mainly because I don't have enough money to buy something new :ehh: Once again, thanks for the replys!
