Towing problems solved

When I towed my 22' 5500lb. travel trailer it would sway back and forth and when I would go into a corner it felt like I had 4 wheel steer. Very unstable towing! Anyway, I put a sway bar on the rear of the truck and had sway control put on the trailer which I have never needed with my other two trucks towing this trailer. It would then go down the road straight but cornering was still a problem. I then took it to a local spring shop and they added an extra leaf between the two original leaves on the rear springs. This solved the cornering problem and sway caused by wind or trucks passing. I purchased this truck with Z-71 and heavy duty tow package and it is rated to tow 7800 lbs. but I think it would really tow about 4000 lbs. safely as equipped from the manufacturer. I towed over a thousand miles last week and it did it flawlessly with the modifications. It also handles and rides better unloaded. If I had it to do again I would definitely get the 3/4 ton. I might add I also had to replace the P-metric radials with 10 plys. With the Z-71 and heavy duty tow package Chevrolet should have done more than just replace the shocks.
