since the dealership/salesman were idiots I walked out on getting a danali, though thats the car the wife really wants. she loved the look of it.

I myself was looking at said danali and suburbans

couple other dealerships in area *ones I have got cars from* have

a danali and some 1999 Suburbans

tried to do some research on the 99 suburbans and all i can find were people complaing about replacing break pads every year.

just curious on why that is such a problem? or they just replacing them with 10dollar ones from autozone and thats why they dont last.

and any other tidbits of info would be helpful..

still debating and searching.

thanks in advance

here is current suburban i was going to look at today. yes i see the dent on the passenger side but gotta see how the body material is to see if i can fix it myself.

Brakes will always be a problem on large vehicles, Dodge is having their share of problems on their Rams. As for the Suburuban, if it is the Older body style, you can't go wrong, they are bulletproof, well almost. If they came out with the NBS in 99, must like they did for the Silverado I STRONGLY advise you to not buy a Suburban unless it is a 2002+ I have had my share of problems with my 99 NBS Silverado and I have learned the lesson to NEVER EVER EVER! buy a new model within 2 years of it being released.

I own a 99 Suburban SLT fully loaded and so far I had the usual problems with it. The truck has over 150K miles I bought it used 3-1/2 years ago and I love it still as much as when I first got it. So Far I replaced the brakes in front twice, water pump, fuel filter, fuel pump twice. The fuel pump is a problem on a lot of GM's trucks but the second pump I put in is a high output version which solved a lot of issues. The brakes are weak in the front like everyone says but with S/S brake lines and ceramic pads they are much better and last a long time. Unless you pull heavy loads with no brakes on a trailer then yes they will wear out fast. The intake manifold gasket is also a problem on the 5.7 Vortec's which tends to crack. The gasket is chaep to buy but it's lots of labor to replace. The 4L60E tranny is fragile but if you don't push it too much it will last. The shocks are next to replace for me but since they are the originals I would think that's normal. I hope this helps out.

Cheers

I have a 99 GMC Sub SLT, and I have replaced both front brake calipers, hoses, rotors, and pads. I have only had it for 8 months. I have to replace the front driver hub bearing. Something to watch for is the doors. Drive it down a bumpy road and see if the doors sound like they are going to fall off. Mine are loose and I can not figure out how to fix it. Its been a good truck for the family, so far.

And I have 74,000 miles

The hinge pins and bushings are most likely worn out on your doors.
