Low speed ABS activation

I have a 2003 silverado 4x4 and I am getting the Low speed ABS activation problem. My truck has 40K miles, this just started happening about a month ago.

My dad's 99 NBS sierra was covered under a recall for doing the same thing, and his truck has 212K miles!

 

I need to fix this soon... almost went through my garage at 3MPH because the truck would not stop!!

 

I called the dealer, and they said if my truck was 99-2002 it was covered, but not 2003+. HHmm are my parts different than the 2002's?

 

Anyway, I know no parts were replaced in my dad's truck, he said they "cleaned something". I assume it was the sensor,but how do I get to it.

 

Whats do I need to try to fix this problem? I hope I don't need to buy new hubs for this problem?

REMOVE THE WHEEL, THEN THE BRAKE CALIPER AND ROTOR, THEN REMOVE THE DUST CAP THAT COVERS WHERE THE CV AXLE MATES WITH THE STEERING KNUCKLE . REMOVE THE THE AXLE NUT. UNPLUG THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR ON TOP OF THE SHOCK TOWER. REMOVE THE 3 15MM BOLTS FROM THE BACKSIDE OF THE STEERING KNUCKLE AND PULL THE HUB BEARING OFF...CLEAN THE CORROSION OFF THE HUB AND THE KNUCKLE

You do not need to do all that work. Remove the rotor, remove the screw(s) holding the sensor and pull it out. Do not pry on as you risk breaking it.

 

Once it's off, clean the rust from the mounting surfaces.
