trouble codes

can anyone tell me how to retrieve the transmission trouble codes on a 94 gmc with a 4l60 e tranny? will the regular obd-1 retrieval with a jumper wire work for the tranny or is there a different way?

I believe they will spit out the same way jumping A-B of aldl,

they are 2 digit Ithink 6x series

I have no reverse and only 1st gear forward-no shifts.

Forget about looking for codes. There is nothing electrical that will cause your problem.

That's exactly what I needed to know. thankyou. Could an electrical problem have led to it, or is the root cause more likely to be from internal failure only?

Most likely an internal mechanical failure.
