Tape Deck Auto NR?

I have the CD/TAPE/FM/AM radio in my 2006 Sierra 1500 (yes the title says Sienna... early morning brainfart!), is there a way to turn off Noise Reduction, when I play my ipod through the tape adapter it sounds muffled as if NR was on, I see no markings for NR anywhere and I've tried pressing just about every button.

Have ya tried using the adaptor with some other device, or in another tape player? I had one that, right out of the box, it sounded like crap. Returned it for another one and all was OK.

Might be the head on the adaptor is dirty or just wore out.

Did ya clean the tape player head?

I used the same adapter in my 02 silverado, it sounded fine (hissy) this 06 sierra i hear no hiss (or any highs) it sounds like Noise Reduction, I wonder if anyone else has noticed this with this deck?
