2000 s-15 jimmy gas gauge not working

I have a 2000 jimmy sle 4x4 and gas gauge doesnt work. its stuck on full most of the time, if im in drive. when im stopped in park it will go from "e" to full and back and forth. they tried a new fuel pump and sending unit and it still does it. mech checked all wires and said they look to be fine. anyone else have this trouble and found a cure. ??? if not will an after market fuel gauge work ?? if so which one??

I know this is an old topic, but just wanted to confirm that this is a known issue with these vehicles, and that cost to repair is about 400.00. Does anyone have any other info on this?

What does the actual cost-to-repair consist of? Maybe rob251 is still around and your insight might assist him.
