Towing Tune?

I'm looking for feedback from anyone with a 5.3 silvy who tows a camper or boat or something and got a tune done.

After you get a tune is it plug and play or is there a relearn the computer needs to do?

I have a Wait4me tune. It is plug and play but there will be a relearn. Basically the computer will lose any adaptive learning and start from square one. I drove mine about 100 miles before I towed with the new tune just to give it some time to learn without the trailer. Never had any issues towing around 5,000lbs for me.

Ive towed alot with my westers and it has helped alot not just the power but the shift points feel great ive towed anything from our bay boat, to tractor, to tons of hay. i honestly think the shifting was a bigger help than the power

I kept my tow/haul as stock. Didn't want it messed with as I tow a 20 foot boat a bunch during the warm weather.

I have the Westers tune. Not really sure how to say what tune I have except it isn't the hot one they have nor is it a slow tune. When I step on the truck hang on as it will go like crazy now.

Then of course if I am towing it is the normal sluggish on take offs but does its job pulling the boat.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Have a nice day.

Bill
