I'm looking a getting a fv'er; the unloaded weight is 6600lbs. and I can go up to 8300lbs before I hit the GCWR of 14K. with a 4.10 I can pull up to 16K, how can a 500rpm difference allow me to pull an additional ton?

If the difference is noticeable should I regear, or will either struggle pulling 4 ton?

And to answer your other question, you should be fine w/3.73's. Your gas mileage will take a pretty sizeable hit though. Switching to 4.10s would make your truck work a little less hard, but you'll use more gas all the time. If this isn't your DD truck it won't matter, but if it is you'll probably want to stick w/the 3.73s.

Gotcha. I was reading another towing forum and one poster summed it up pretty good; the pullability will improve with a 4.10 but the truck can handle 16K GCWR regardless of which rear end. I think I'll keep by 3.73.
