Welcome to the site!  Hope you enjoy it here.

Nice looking truck.  What part of the country are you from?  Just wondering, with all the mountains and snow?

I'll put up the same offer to you as I did one of our other new members, Duramax_Dually.  ;)

If you ever decide to take that black trim off the tail lights, give me a holler. :D  I tried to see if I could get it from the dealer, but they said you have to order the entire tail light assembly.

MaxDMax,

Nice looking truck(I am very partial to K3500's, always have been) I like the color, have not seen a color I did not like on a 3500.

I am not a big Mudflap guy, but those look real clean. Are they Factory units?

Out here in California not to much of a need for the flaps.... I have the front flaps for winter, then in summer they will come off.

Here are a couple of recommendations that worked great for my Duramax/Allison equipped truck. Run detergent diesel oil for the first 10K miles, Get out and tow with the truck after 1K miles. Load it good, It seats the rings well. After 10K miles switch to synthetic motor oil.

Change the rearend lube at 500 miles as recommended. It is synthetic lube as well. There is lots of assy lube in there and it needs to be changed.

Upgrade to the Standard Allison pan and synthetic Transdyn fluid at 5K miles,The pan you have is what Allison dubbed as the "Shallow" pan.

I have all the part numbers on my web page or you can e-mail me and I will tell you what I have done.

Enjoy the truck....I know I sure am....

First thanks for the info, a bunch of good people here.

Sorry for the slow reply, been BUSY at work and having fun working on items on my new DMax. The pics in the snow are in East KY.  The nurf bars came on the truck and are Back Country. I am not a big mud flap guy either, but they also came on the truck, don't know what brand. As for the color, I like it, it looks black at night and green during the day.

One thing I have discovered this beast is awsome! I now have a new friend every where I stop. <GRIN>  Heck I've seen more than 2 or 3 people turn around and catch up with me to take a look and then turn back around.

I plan on changing the rear axle lube after 500 miles of towing and following the break in procedures.

I just added:

Rhino bed liner (nice)

installed a 5th wheel Hidden Hitch.

Jordon 2020 brake controller, tested it on a friends 30 foot tag cargo trailer yesterday it is awsome, my friend said he was ordering one today.  If you don't have one you are just missing out.

Items on order are:

Autometer EGT Boost Gage and Exhaust temp gage

Retrax rolling bed cover

36 foot fifth wheel toybox trailer due in mid Feb.!!!!!!

------------ FYI -------------

Also I weighed my truck yesterday just me 200lbs, 100 pounds of stuff in the cab, bed liner, nerf bars, fifth wheel hitch and most likely 50 lbs. of mud from driving to the coal mine where the scales were located.   It came to 7,860 lbs. so I have 3,540 left for what ever I need to haul. I still have the capacity I need, but I kinda thought it would weigh a little less.

What brand of oil and oil filter do you all use?

My fiver will weigh 10K to 11K should I use the heavier 90-140 weight rear end lube?

THANKS AGAIN!

OFF TO WORK I GO!

Very nice looking truck  :D .

I thought the same thing as you,,, about it looks black at night.

First thing I would do is lose the dealer emblem on the tailgate   .

If I read the front tag right,,, you bought it in Ohio,, correct?

MadDMax,,  Bring her up here to the pull in March  :0

Keep the flaps,, dually's look awkward without them.

    • I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.
    • Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
