When I bought mine at Circuit City, I bought the $12 insurance that covers the entire Sirius system for a few years. The tech told me that the antennas don't last much more than a year or so.

when installed properly, they will last a heck of a lot longer than a year.

I have one on my father's truck i put in 3 years ago and it's still functioning.

i replaced mine when i returned my lease Chev last year. when i went to remove it, the wire disintigrated in a few places.

all this and I live through 40 below 3 months a year

Thats what the tech was saying, it all depends on how your wire is ran and what it is in contact with. It's the wire insulation that gives you trouble.
