4x4 not engaging

This is a duplicate post as Im not sure where to place this.

 

Im my 96 Burban I have the push buttons for 4x4. All it does is blink now. Ive looked into it some and found that there is only three components in the system . . unless ive been told wrong. The dash switch, the engagement motor and a computer. When I was pumpin gas at a station last week I was talkign to a guy who had a chevy truck and said they have a solenoid on the front axle that usuallly is the problem, he sadi hes replaced a few and that it was always the problem. Now I have power a the switch and you can hear the motor when you press the switch but I havent taken it off yet to see if its actually doing anything or if its just winding up and not engaging anything. Any suggestions???
