Manual Trans... First gear stomping?

Ok... I've driven some heavy clutches in my time... so I thought I'd run this by you guys..

On my 2006 4.3 Manual Trans, it seems that I really have to smash the clutch down to get a smooth shift from neutral to first.

What gives?

Thanks,

Pete

Sounds like you could have some air trapped in the clutch hydraulic circuit or have an internally leaking clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. If that is the case, the clutch slave cylinder will not move as much as necessary to fully release the clutch.

I had an internally leaking clutch master cylinder on my car and shifting to 1st from neutral became progressively worse and very difficult.

I would also check the clutch pedal to clutch master cylinder piston interface.

The truck is under warranty - take it to the delaer and let them worry about it.

How do you like it otherwise? Mine's awesome, although it makes it harder to eat, drink, shift and talk on my cell at the same time rather difficult.

Oh, and in 1st the shifter is in the way of the 12v aux but with a smaller charger plugged in it will fit.

I friggin' love it! I love the big fuel tank! almost 300 miles and I'm @ 1/2 a tank. Friggin sweet.

I'm going to check the fluid for the clutch and wait a little before I bring it in. I might also ask to drive one at the dealer and see if it is the same. Could just be that I'm use to lazy, soft and worn vehicles...

Thanks!

Pete
