Saturday is opening day for pheasant season in my part of Kansas. Should have a really good year this year. We are supposed to have some pretty cold mornings this week so that is a plus. Any bird hunters in here?

...I hate you...

I can't wait to get back home and go pheasant hunting. Those birds are all over the place now that the coyotes are mostly gone. I know last year we got 80 in a few hours, so this year should be really good.

My Favorite hunting is Phesent. Love the meat. There is something to be said about picking shot out from between your teeth when you eat something.

We only have game farms up here, and they get to be very expensive, espically when you have to rent a dog/Guide.

Good Luck

Man that sucks. My dad owns a bunch of land that I hunt on, along with some of our neighbors. One of my friends has a dog that we sometimes take, depending on how chewed up we want the pheasants before we get to them.

I hunt deer, turkey, duck, and dove. I have only been deer hunting a couple of times this year as I have been really busy with school. I can't wait for duck season to start in mid November or for the rut to start around that time also. Good luck everyone!

gotta love the hunting... i like to go pheasent, rabbit and deer hunting. Waiting for shotgun season to open up here in a couple weeks. nothing like sitting in you deer stand, freezing your ba11s off waiting for that deer to come walking by. anyway good luck this season

Dove season just closed Monday but opens up again from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4... I usually hunt on my friend's land, I only had time to go twice so far, so hopefully I'll be able to go again when the season opens up again. It's a blast!

Deer season starts this weekend, but I went last weekend on youth hunt. This is the last year I'll be able to do that, and only pay $6 for my license :) I seen a wall-hanger, but wasn't able to get a clean shot... the thing kept running around everywhere and acting nuts... Hopefully he'll be back this weekend if someone else doesn't get him.

We only use dogs that point, we pick them up ourselves. Plus when you shoot them they are not normally too far away. At least we don't need to walk to far.

I remember one day when one flew out from under my buddies legs, he shot it when it was about 2 feet from the the end of the gun. He was pissed because it was the only one he shot that year, and nothing was left. I was laughing so hard it made me feel bad and I gave him two of the 5 that I got.

I leave Friday for my muzzleloader Elk hunt. Just a General Unit, over-the-counter tag. I will be on the mountain until next Thursday. I also hunt deer, pheasant, duck, and an occasional prairie dog. I have been trying to draw a moose tag for the last 10 years and also a premium Elk Unit tag. The moose is a once-in-a-lifetime hunt. The odds are the worst in the state, of any species. If I ever draw a moose tag, then my next once-in-a-lifetime goal will be Buffalo.

Yeah, that works if you have good dogs trained to do that. Plus, we usually take some pretty far shots, and they don't always stay down when they hit the ground. If they run, they are gonna run for a long ways, which is about the only reason we use the dog anyway.
