Yet another "which tire? "thread

The OEM Wrangler ST's have got to go. Still plenty of tread left but zero traction. Even the dude at the Goodyear garage said they are pretty much useless on anything but dry pavement.

Looking for a true All-Terrain LT tire, no more of these P-rated car tires. Traction and long-life are the most important qualities to me, low road noise would be a bonus. I think I've got it narrowed down to three choices in a load range C.

Goodyear Wrangler Silent armor

Cooper Discover ATR

BF Goodrich All-Terrain

Going to stick with the stock 265/70/17 size. I'd like to go up to 285's but I think it would be pretty sluggish with the 3.42 gears. Opinions wanted.

I switched from Firestone Steeltex LT245/75/16's to Michelin LTX M/S LT 265/75/16 load range C on my 2000 ECSB 4x4. I had the Michelins on my 1988 truck and at 80k miles I still had 1/3 to half tread on them. They are extremely quiet. I do mostly freeway and around town driving, no off roading and will not own a different tire. They are great in the rain. I am 100% satisfied with them. I know a lot of guys like the Revo's if they are looking for a more all terrain tire, but I have never tried them. Check out tire rack.com and check the reviews on whatever you plan to buy.

The tire dealer here refers to the Goodyear ST's as Sh$%*y Traction tires.

I think I have narrowed down my choices to the Goodyear Silent Armor or the Coopers for my 2005 work truck. I had the BFG's on my '99 and could feel a vibration on certain roads after I put them on. But on the positive side they had around 50,000 miles on one rotation with tread left when I traded the truck in. Although for around $30.00 a tire less I am going try one of the above. I was leaning towards the Goodyear but am curious how they are on wet roads.

Take a look at the General grabber at2. looks good and a lot cheaper than the BFG's. My tire dealer said they run $122 each for the 265/70/17. That is about $60 cheaper than the BFG's.

USWA strike at Goodyear has me leaning towards the Cooper Discoverer ATR. How many of you are running them and how do you like them? Had a few snow flakes fall today, time to ditch the ST's.

I have them and like them; in the wet they slip a little starting out form a stop but raining driveability is still very good. They do very well in the snow and mud too.
