I have heard a few of the kits. They sound good I think. The fit and finish is pretty darn good, for the price you can't go wrong the only draw back is the aluminized pipe. in the northeast it won't last long (salt and snow). i would keep the factory kit as a back up.

Flowmasters definately have a mean sound and are about the loudest out there depending on which series you go with. I had some dual chamber 'flow-mo-betters' on my old V8 Thunderbird and while it almost brought me to tears when I revved it, I could set of car alarms from a half block away.

Looking for something in between for my truck: good sound but not going to rattle my brains out on the highway. Hence why I'm looking at dynomax/magnaflow. Corsa is great too but like I said before, a little overpriced.

All I have to say is when I put the flows on my V6 and people think I've actually got something under the hood, then I know it is the best. I tried the others and they almost sounded like a fart can, but thats my truck.

No doubt you should hear the flowmasters on my supercharged V6 Grand Prix. You'd never guess it was a V6. Sounds mean as hell.

I goofed. I've had a muffler sitting around and it's not magnaflow, it's a dynomax. Has a little bit of low rumble but it almost stock sounding, which is what I'm after. I put the same one on my old Toyota Hilux and there was no difference from stock. Of course my impact gun has more torque than that truck did...

Thats the thing I don't get about exhaust systems. Some are purpousely made to be quiet so you can barerly tell there is a new exhaust. Whats the point of it if you don't want it to be heard?

i think im going to do the summit or heart throb cat back (single in, dual out muffler) for dual exhaust appearance and a moderate deepening in tone. Then im going to put an E cut out after the Y pipe so i can have the truck sound relatively mean when i want it to (it will be post cats, post o2 sensors so it wont be as loud as having 'open heads') It will be a little while before i buy everything, Subs/Amp set up is going in first, but i will let you all know how everything sounds. The whole exhaust set up will cost under $400...not bad for having a tight wallet

i can see why some people would just want the performance gains and not the noise...or just a little tiny bit of a deeper sound but not necessarily louder

My thoughts exactly. Of course not everyone feels the same.

Summit also sells the Flowmaster American thunder system IIRC, which should sound pretty tough if that's what you're after.

I think it all depends on what you want out of it and what type of sound. I personally like Corsa, it has more of a higher pitch sound compared to flowmasters deep low sound.

sadly my wallet is doing a lot of the talking. Im wanting the dual exhaust look and just a little bit deeper sound. Thats why i am liking the summit system (or heart throb cat back). but i know ill also want for it to sound mean at times which is while ill probably put an E cut out after the Y pipe. Then ill have loud when i want it, deeper but no cab drone when i want it, and ill always have the dual exhaust appearance all for under $400
