2006 4.8L Sierra Crew.

 

At idle oil pressure is roughly 40psi, under hard acceleration it can briefly go to almost 80psi before falling. Normal?

I am not a Tech but this sounds pretty normal to me.

My 4.3L V6 does that too, especially when it's cold.

 

It has jumped to 70 when I accelerate and it's not warmed up yet.

Even warm, any time you accelerate hard, the oil pressure goes way up.
