Differentual gears locking

Ever since I changed my differentual fluid, I used Royal Purple 75 90 by the way, sometimes when I spin the tires by accident, especially lately its been raining, and I slowley take a somewhat sharp turn, its like the rearend gears lock up. The rear tires start fighting against eachother like the spider gears are welded together. Then I just mash the gas and spin the tires good, and the problem seems to be fixed. This Royal Purple must have some kick ass limited slip additives :D:D Any Ideas?

I dont think I have a locker, Im pretty sure its just limited slip. Whats the code for the locker, G80 by chance? But yeah it acts like it has a full time locker sometimes, only when I accidentally spin the tires, then take a sharp turn at lower speeds. Not all the time, but occasionally.

G80 is the glove box code, it allows limited slip til it locks. Then it is locked, like a locker. Making it an automatic locking diferential, that uses wheel slip to activate the locking mechanism. It is either on or off. It sounds like yours is not functioning quite right, possibly due too much friction additive, resulting in premature lock up.

if you have rpo g80, its sounds normal. if you don't have rpo g80, you need lsd additive.

ps i have RP max gear in both my diffs, they've operated normally for the 30K miles the stuff's been in there.

You may want to add some friction modifier and it will let up a little. Just add a little at a time till it reaches your comfort level. Friction modifier reduces friction of the clutches in your diff.

Sounds good.

Well i checked the glove box, didnt see G80 anywere, so I guess I'm going to get some LS additive.

So did you have to add lsd additive?

If you don't have a G80 and you have not installed some sort of traction aiding device, limited slip additvie is pointless. However the symptoms you are having indicate something else is wrong in the rear end of the truck. With out a traction aiding device one tire will spin except in extremely poor traction situations.
