Lowering a 4x4 sierra Xt. cab 3 inches

I have a friend that is looking to buy a Sierra 4x4 xt cab with a 6.6 bed. He needs to have the truck be able to fit into his garage that has an opening of 73 inches. The Sierras have a overall height of about 74 inches. I am wondering if there is a way to drop the height by 2 - 3 inches. Not including letting air out of the tires.

Would drop shackles in the rear accomplish this? Should anything be done to the front suspension.
